BREAKING : “San Francisco’s Latest Move: Why the 49ers’ Signing of Khalil Davis Could Be a Big Deal”

The 2024 NFL trade deadline has come and passed, and the big trade some San Francisco 49ers fans were hoping for that would land a star wide receiver or defensive lineman didn’t happen. However, the team did make a move that could pay some dividends.

It managed to swing a trade with the Houston Texans that will give it some help on its defensive line. It acquired Khalil Davis, a 28-year-old defensive tackle, in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick.

Given the injuries the Niners have had to deal with, especially to starting defensive tackle Javon Hargrave, the addition of Davis is one that should be welcomed by the Faithful.

Davis was a sixth-round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. After barely playing in his first two seasons in the NFL, he spent the 2022 season on the practice squads of the Buccaneers, Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Rams.

After a stint with the Birmingham Stallions of the now-defunct United States Football League (USFL), he joined the Texans and blossomed last season with 32 total tackles (16 solo), six tackles for loss, six quarterback hits, 2.0 sacks, two passes defended and one forced fumble.

In nine games this season, he has registered nine total tackles (six solo), four tackles for loss, two QB hits and 1.0 sacks.
