The Pittsburgh Steelers’ wide receiver trade market continues to dwindle. After Diontae Johnson was traded, there are no certain names that will be moved. However, the top target likely on the board for the Steelers is New York Jets wide receiver Mike Williams. Williams is a talented player, but after another game with zero targets, he could be on his way out.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Williams looks like a guy who could be traded by the Jets. However, they will want to wait to see what happens in their Thursday Night Football game against the Houston Texans before moving Williams for good.
Williams is a player the Steelers have shown interest in from the jump. When it became possible that he was on the trade market, they called the Jets right away. Pittsburgh tried to sign Williams this offseason before the Jets signed him first for Aaron Rodgers. But after the Davante Adams trade, it is no longer necessary for the Jets to keep Williams.
Allen Lazard is injured with a chest injury, which gave Williams another start last Sunday against the New England Patriots. However, he played 33 snaps and did not register a snap. All the signs point to him being moved, but the Steelers have competition for Williams in the Los Angeles Chargers.
Either way, with names like Darius Slayton, Jakobi Meyers, and others possibly staying with their teams, Williams shoots to the top of the board as a trade target for the Steelers.
