Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson is out for at least the next four games as the team placed him on injured reserve. Wilson can not return until after the team’s game against the Cleveland Browns on Nov. 21. However, there is trepidation on whether that will happen, sources said, as Wilson suffered a significant grade 2 strain of his hamstring and could miss as much as six weeks with the injury.
Wilson first suffered the injury before the team faced the New York Jets, but it worsened during practice on Wednesday. He missed the next three practice sessions and was ruled out against the Giants.
Wilson missed eight weeks after suffering a high ankle sprain in training camp. He only was active against the Las Vegas Raiders and played just five snaps. Head coach Mike Tomlin said he needed to continue seeing Wilson work in practice settings to earn more playing time, but this injury completely sets that back.
Now, the Steelers could look to trade for a wide receiver more than ever after Wilson’s injury.
