The Dallas Cowboys have had their share of struggles on the defensive end to start the season. The lack of execution and defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer’s disappointing performance have certainly played a part but we can’t ignore the toll the injuries have had on that end of the field.
Star cornerback DaRon Bland has yet to make his season debut, and defensive ends DeMarcus Lawrence, Marshawn Kneeland, and Sam Williams are all on the injured reserve list. Even Micah Parsons, who hadn’t missed a game in his college and NFL career before, missed the last two games after suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 4 against the Giants.
As the Cowboys take on the 49ers in Week 8 in a crucial matchup to get back on track, Parsons provided the latest in his recovery. While the star defender said that the rehab was going well, he refused to confirm his availability.
NFL News: Micah Parsons Doesn’t Confirm His Week 8 Availability
Micah Parsons on his health: “Good, rehabbing, doing everything I possibly can to get back on the field.”
Play vs. San Fran: “It’s still in the air, obviously there’s more than just me, I got to clear it with Britt the coaches, the head coach …”— Calvin Watkins (@calvinwatkins) October 21, 2024
Parsons said that he was trying to do everything he possibly could to get back on the field on Sunday. However, he said his status is up in the air and he needs to be cleared by athletic trainer Britt Brown and the coaching staff.
The Cowboys desperately need to get healthier if they are going to salvage this season. After San Francisco, they visit Atlanta, followed by two tough matchups against the Eagles and the Texans. Getting Parsons back before that difficult slate of games is the only hope the Cowboys have to climb up in the NFC East standings, where they are currently behind both Philadelphia and Washington.
