BREAKING: “Former Bills Safety Reacts to Late Penalty”

The Buffalo Bills defeated the Miami Dolphins in a tight, 30-27, victory on Sunday. The Bills took the lead in the game’s final seconds when kicker Tyler Bass made a 61-yard field goal, the longest in franchise history.
On Buffalo’s final drive leading up to the field goal, the Bills were in third-and-long before Dolphins safety Jordan Poyer was called for an unnecessary roughness penalty for a hit on receiver Keon Coleman, giving the Bills a first down and setting up the game winner.
Poyer, who played with the Bills for seven years, gave his thoughts on the penalty after the game.
“I thought it was a clean play,” Poyer said. “I feel like I put my helmet right in his chest. Just playing football. It’s tough.”
On the play, Poyer put his head down and collided with the bottom of Coleman’s helmet, causing his head to fly back and forcing an incompletion.

In seven seasons with the Bills, Poyer was a one-time All-Pro and Pro Bowler. In March, Buffalo decided to release the long-time starter. Poyer then decided to sign with the Dolphins, giving him the chance to play his former team twice a year.
The Bills ended up getting the better of Miami in their matchups this season, with the win on Sunday completing the season sweep. Buffalo now has a dominant lead on the Dolphins and the rest of the AFC East with less-than half of the season remaining.
