Insider Provides Update On NFL Trade Deadline Activity

There are only a handful of teams in the NFL that are sticking out among the rest heading into Week 9 of the 2024 regular season, with the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs the only undefeated team and the Detroit Lions arguably the best team in the league with only one loss so far.

After the Chiefs and Lions, the league has six teams with two losses and six teams with three losses, which shows there’s quite a bit of parity in the league right now, which will make things interesting heading toward the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 5.

Although a safe bet would be the Chiefs and Lions going head-to-head in the Super Bowl in February, anything can happen from here on out, and that sentiment seems to be shared by other teams, as there have been several trades by potential title contenders.

However, teams around the league appear to have put trade talks on hold at the moment to see what happens during Week 9.

“Sources: Several AFC teams have paused trade talks to see where they stand after Sunday’s games. With so many two-win teams in the AFC, some aren’t ready to give up on their seasons or trade players at a discount. Sunday’s results will likely tip the scale one way or another before Tuesday’s trade deadline,” Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports wrote on X.

Unlike in years past, the NFL has become a league where trades seem to happen quite often, with disgruntled players asking to be traded or teams no longer reluctant to make deals during the season to upgrade their rosters or plan for the future.

It’ll be interesting to see what deals come to fruition after all the games are played in Week 9, as some teams could get more aggressive to bolster their rosters for the second half of the campaign.
