UPDATE : “Steelers Shine: Players Earn Weekly NFL Honors!”

Calvin Austin had himself a day on Sunday. Along with the defense, the Pittsburgh Steelers special teams unit has helped carry the team to its 6-2 record this season and to the top of the AFC North. On Wednesday, the NFL honored Austin’s effort in the 26-18 win over the New York Giants by naming him the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 8. Austin ran a 73-yard punt return for a touchdown in the second half that gave the Steelers a lead they would not give up. Austin followed that up with a 29-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. It’s the first time Austin has been honored with a Player of the Week award, but he wasn’t the only Steelers player who was recognized by the league in Week 8. Linebacker T.J. Watt received the AFC Defensive Player of the Week
Austin finished Sunday’s game with three catches on four targets for 54 yards and a touchdown, while Watt posted seven total tackles with five solo, two for loss, two sacks and two quarterback hits.
