One of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ potential wide receiver trade targets, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk, went down with a shoulder injury against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Kirk was driven into the ground after elevating for a pass from Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and immediately grabbed his shoulder.
The Jaguars took him straight to the locker room and ruled him out almost immediately. On Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter stated that Kirk would be a likely trade candidate for multiple teams, but with this new shoulder injury, any hopes of that come off the board.
The Steelers are interested in virtually every avenue to acquire a wide receiver, including Kirk. He likely would have commanded a day-three pick in return, and the Steelers would have had to take on a tough contract to handle at this point in the season.
Either way, this lends credence to other players that would make sense. Darius Slayton, Mike Williams, and Adam Thielen could all be players on the move that the Steelers would be interested in at the wide receiver position.
