The good injury news for the New York Giants heading into Monday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers is that right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor is trending toward playing. The bad news is they could be exceptionally thin in the defensive secondary.
Eluemunor was listed as ‘Did Not Practice’ on Saturday due to a hip injury, but the veteran offensive lineman has promised to play Monday night.
“I think he’ll be okay,” head coach Brian Daboll said Saturday. “But I can’t guarantee it.”
The Giants are already using Josh Ezeudu at left tackle in place of Andrew Thomas, out for the season after foot surgery. If Eluemunor can’t play, Evan Neal will get his first snaps of the season at right tackle.
Eluemunor took to social media Saturday night with a simple message:
I’m playing

Several Giants cornerbacks are dealing with injuries. Adoree’ Jackson will miss a second straight game with a neck issue. Starting outside cornerback Cor’Dale Flott (groin) was a limited practice participant on Saturday and is doubtful. Tre Hawkins is questionable with an ankle injury.
The Giants have two cornerbacks, Art Green and Greg Stroman, on their practice squad. It won’t be a surprise to see one elevated for Monday night.
Punter Jamie Gillan will miss a third straight game with a left hamstring injury. Special teamer Ty Summers will be sidelined due to an ankle injury suffered against the Philadelphia Eagles last week.
Another bit of good news is that edge defender Brian Burns, who hobbled through last week’s game with a groin injury, does not have an injury designation. That means he will play. Burns has also been dealing with an Achilles injury.
