The injury-riddled San Francisco 49ers host the Dallas Cowboys, one of their longtime rivals, in Week 8, and they’re hoping it will be a get-right game.
The Niners are 3-4 after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7, and they’re hoping to eventually get as many of their key players as possible back from injury.
In some good news, wide receiver Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle were back at practice.
“Deebo Samuel, hospitalized earlier this week with pneumonia, is back out at 49ers practice and looking like his usual self. Samuel appears on track to play against the Cowboys,” David Lombardi of The San Francisco Standard wrote on X.

Samuel barely played against the Chiefs due to a case of pneumonia that resulted in fluid in his lungs and caused him to be briefly hospitalized.
Kittle, meanwhile, sprained his foot.
This season has seen one key player after another go down on a seemingly weekly basis, and San Francisco will now be without wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk for the rest of the season after he tore his ACL and MCL against the Chiefs.
Star running back Christian McCaffrey has not played this season due to Achilles tendinitis, although there is hope he could return in Week 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Despite all of their problems, the Niners are just one game behind the Seattle Seahawks for first place in the NFC West, which means it is possible they end up in first place heading into their Week 9 bye.
In addition, that bye week will give them an opportunity to try to get as healthy as possible for the second half of the season.
