Steelers Sending Bold Message vs. Jets in Russell Wilson Debut

The Pittsburgh Steelers lead the New York Jets, 30-15 in the fourth quarter of “Sunday Night Football” after Russell Wilson found Van Jefferson for a four-yard touchdown. That touchdown added on to a strong Steelers debut for Wilson, who now has 264 passing yards and three total touchdowns. It has also been a big night for George Pickens, who has 111 yards and a touchdown on five catches. Running back Najee Harris has also gotten involved with 84 rushing yards on 18 attempts. After the Steelers trailed heading into halftime, they’ve outscored the Jets 17-to-0 in the second half. Aaron Rodgers threw back-to-back interceptions in the third quarter, both to undrafted rookie cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr. Bishop has six total tackles to go along with his two interceptions, as well as a tackle-for-loss.
Rodgers currently has 276 passing yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Running back Breece Hall has given Pittsburgh’s defense trouble in the passing game as well, as he has 103 receiving yards along with 38 rushing yards and a touchdown. It has been a been a quiet night for superstar pass rusher TJ Watt, who has just one tackle, but the Steelers’ defense has not needed him as they’ve been able to keep the Jets out of the end zone with the strong play of their secondary.
If Wilson can continue his strong start, there is a decent chance that Pittsburgh will stick with him in the coming weeks.
